This is me on the way up a ridge in the Wai'anae's. I always laugh because I climb for two hours on a trail no wider than several feet at some points, a trek which includes several vertical climbs up steep cliff faces (without ropes, I might add), all to protect an animal no bigger than an inch (native snail). At the top, we repel down to a large ledge in the face of the mountain. The reason I laugh is that the actual time we spend working at the top is only thirty minutes, followed by another hard climb down. Nah, I really am blessed: a lot of my pictures come from being able to access areas few people get to see. |
